Any composer or interested person is eligible to apply regardless of age and nationality.
There will be two types of participants, active and passive. Active participants are selected by the resident professor and the ensemble members of the applied module. For details please read the pages ACTIVE PARTICIPATION and PASSIVE PARTICIPATION in our website and and duly fill the online application form (Google sign-in required!) to complete your application electronically.

Digital publication of select works by academists in Spotify, iTunes, etc.
During the post-production process, resident professors and ensembles review works by the active participants of BCA19 via resulting recordings and choose among them the scores with the highest compositorial and artistic quality that will be awarded with a publication on digital platforms.

Active participation
Tuition: 250 EUR or 1500 TRY (with accommodation)

Individual lessons with the resident professor of the attended module.
– Individual
lessons with guest and home faculty members.
– Rehearsals and reworking of the own work with the resident ensemble.
Live performance by the resident ensemble of the own work in a public concert.
Eight nights stay (June 23rd to July 1st) in the Bilkent University dormitories.
Professional recording of his/her BCA19 work.
– A personal composer’s profile for each active participant will be generated based on the audio-visual documentation during BCA19, to be published in academy web-pages and other online platforms.
Access to all joint activities including rehearsals, masterclasses, workshops, seminars, panels, etc. and the public concerts.

Submitted scores may be:
previously performed,
– with a duration of 4′ – 15′,
– either for ensemble (1-9 instruments drawn from flt, clt, perc, pno, 2 vlns, vla, vc, d.bs.) or for a full string quartet,
– finished works as well as works-in-progress.

Some more details to consider:
– Application with one score or a maximum of two different scores. The same score may not be submitted to two different modules.
An applicant may submit two different scores for the same module but among them only one may be selected.
– An applicant may submit two different scores, one score for either module. In this case one submitted work should be scored for a full string quartet. If both scores are selected for active participation, double participation fee shall be paid.

Passive participation
Tuition: 50 EUR or 300 TRY (without accommodation)

– Access to all joint activities including rehearsals, masterclasses, workshops, seminars, panels, etc. and the public concerts.

For passive participation please note that:
– no score submission is needed,

– accommodation is not included.
